Morning Liturgy

A MORNING LITURGY IN THE CELTIC STYLE

An emphasis in a Celtic style service is silence, meditation, and the Trinity

All Thanks be to Thee, O God, that I have risen today,
To the rising of this life itself;
May it be to Thine own glory, O God of every gift
And to the glory of my soul likewise.

Leader Who is it that you seek?

All We seek the Lord our God

Leader Do you seek Him with all your heart?

All Amen. Lord, have mercy.

Leader Do you seek Him with all your soul?

All Amen. Lord, have mercy.

Leader Do you seek Him with all your mind?

All Amen. Lord, have mercy.

Leader Do you seek Him with all your strength?

All Amen. Christ, have mercy.

Silence

Leader To whom shall we go?

All You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.

Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory.

CANTICLE -    read slowly and meditatively by a single voice.

Christ, as a light illumine and guide me.

Christ, as a shield overshadow me.

Christ under me; Christ over me;

Christ beside me on my left and my right.

This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.

Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;

in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.

This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all - powerful.

Christ as a light; Christ as a shield;

Christ beside me on my left and my right.

All One thing we ask of the Lord, this is what we seek:

that we may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our life; to behold the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.

The Psalm of the Day is read

All Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and shall be for ever.

The Scripture of the Day is read

All I bind unto myself this day, the strong name of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

Leader From the rising of the sun to its setting, you guide us,
from our birth to our death, you lead us,
in our grief and in our sorrow, you comfort us,
in our joy and celebration, you uplift us,
from the beginning of our lives to their ending,
you encompass us with love.

All Amen.

Leader In all things and at all times may God lead us to look    first for the good rather than the evil in all things;

 to see all men and women as equal – loved and valued by God ;

to care for all that God has created, sharing His gifts with fairness and justice ;
